In the labor room, each sculpt is carefully taken apart, factory paint and wigs are removed so you have a blank canvas. I use a special blend of artist paints that are guaranteed not to fade or rub off over time. Once the paint has been cured, a selection of fine quality kid mohair which is the best and closest thing available to soft baby hair, will be determined and will be inserted one to two strands at a time with a tiny needle, to create the illusion that each strand of hair will be growing out of its own hair follicle. This is the most time consuming part of creating a reborn, however in the end result, it is well worth the time spent. Once these steps are completed, eyes will be inserted and the body will be weighted to mimic the feel of a real baby. The head will be a little wobbly, so care must be taken in holding it, just as you would a newborn baby. Just as Mommys’ in labor, I spend many many hours producing these wonderful dolls that will become a treasured heirloom in your family. The baby is now ready to rest and be transferred into the nursery for your consideration in adoption.
